What they teach you about Persuasion is wrong - Get it Right with...

The Ancient Secret of Persuasion Nobody Teaches You

We've been doing it wrong.

Most people lead with logic. Data, reasons, arguments. And wonder why nobody listens.

The ancient Chinese already knew the correct sequence:

以情入理而后主动立法和行动

Through feeling, into reason, then their desire for agreement and action.

Three steps. In order. Non-negotiable.

Step 1 — Emotion first. Not manipulation. Respect. You earn the right to be heard before you say anything worth hearing. Nobody listens to your logic until they trust your heart.

Step 2 — Then reason. Logic doesn't convince. It gives people permission to act on what they already feel. It's the alibi for the decision their gut already made.

Step 3 — Their desire for agreement and action. Not your close. Not your pressure. Their own wanting. You've disappeared by this point — and that's exactly right.

The goal was never to convince them. It was to awaken something in them.

When it works, they don't feel sold to. They feel like they decided. Because they did.

Writing should be like a mini-skirt — short enough to be attractive, long enough to cover the essentials.
